Discussing the need to allow the current best practices and accepted methods to become the dominating practices in evolving their current style, in an ever shifting and varying field of artistic trends.
Design is important, and so is content. This blog of mine for example has culled a lot of information from a wide range of sources.
The concept of creating more than one identity may have a lot more to do with different roles that you take on in the web world. For example I do a lot of research in a variety of different fields of interest. So several different identities are required to separate one focus from another, its that simple.

I first learned of such practices when I read in some buzz or tweet that someone would not buy a particular domain, primarily because the name was already being used on various social networking platforms.
The concept I am trying to describe is like this. When you first develop a concept, platform, identity, website of network, your vision is only as large as the upper limits of your current vision, in accordance with your abilities. Like the image above.
Then later as you grow and develop your vision from its youthful perspective you vision, understanding skills and abilities also grow.
The same person now has a different outlook. Dinah next to a publicly exhibited art piece. |
In this case as a author, artist, poet, or even a web designer, expands both his vision as well as technical proficiency, they also need to evolve the public display of their external representation of their newly acquired abilities.
In conclusion the specific niche which a given designer or developer designs for will evolve and expand as he or she develops a level of mastery over the given medium. While establishing themselves master level artists, photographers, and copywriters will willingly and readily pursue projects far below their current ability while they seek to establish themselves in their profession.
Niche maketing and development methods allow a new developer to quickly explore the limits of their existing niche, and either price themselves higher than their current marketplace conditions, or represent the lowest level of the market place while attempting to deliver results close to the higher levels of the expanding marketplace.
The important thing for the growing and expanding artist is to keep pace with current design practices while allowing the lower end customers to pursue lower prices designs based on accepted standards and practices which may already be outdated by several years.
